Old Crossleyans u15 v Baildon u15s
Yorkshire Plate final
A strong aggressive start from Baildon forced Crocs to turnover the ball. Both sides showed excellent defensive skills as they looked for a breakthrough. The breakdown was fiercely contested with Finn and Noah working hard to retain the ball.
The breakthrough came on 21 mins from Crocs scrum on their own 22, Leo and brogan moved the ball through the backs hands putting speed merchant Hasnain into space who broke through the full back and raced for the line. The last ditched cover tackle from Baildon was deemed high by the referee who awarded a penalty try.
Baildon looked to bounce back with some great hands and strong drives from the centres, however great defence from George and Ernie kept them out.
Once again Crocs struck from deep with a scrum 5 meters out finding winger Izyan in space who carried to halfway before offloading to Eli. Quick ball was picked up by Leo who outpaced the cover on the short side and stepped the full back to score. 12-0 to Crocs.
Baildon were not going to give up and more powerful carries from Sam resulted in two Baildon try's closing the gap.
Baildon forwards showed great spirit but Crocs front row of Bridge, Wheale and Ogden proved too powerful winning a scrum against the head with Leo racing in for his second try.
Gaps opened up as both sides began to tire and Louie made several barnstorming runs, but it was George and Eli who linked up to produce another Crocs score after back rowers Ben and Alex had sucked the defenders in.
Brogan continued to torment the Baildon defence with the kick in behind and ultimately this paid off with a brave chase resulting in a second try for Eli.
With the clock running down, Crocs finished with a beautifully worked first phase move with Oscar Cooper showing great pace to finish in the corner.
