Wednesday's Weekly Junior Round Up
It's back, the first Weekly Junior Round up of the season. What a preseason we have had...the U7s split away from tots and have up to 20 training each week. Each age group has had new players join, and the junior section goes from strength to strength. It was great to see the club buzzing at training tonight.
Last Sunday, we had our first round of fixtures. Match reports below
First ever game for the U7s, and we had a fantastic turnout away at Wharfedale of 14 kids. The opposition only had four, so the Crics split into three teams, and we played a round robin. All the kids loved it, with player of the week going to Noah for some fantastic running. This weekend, we see us playing Cleakheaton
On Sunday, the Old Crocs Under 8s travelled to Wharfedale for a great morning of rugby, showing plenty of determination, teamwork, and smiles from the first whistle. The Crocs attacked space well, passed the ball around, and scored some excellent tries, while in defence, they worked hard to get back in line and made some vital tags. Wharfedale were strong a opposition, but the Crocs never backed down, showing spirit and growing confidence in their play. Most pleasing was the way they encouraged each other throughout, celebrating good runs, big defensive efforts, and every bit of progress. Coaches and parents were proud of the effort, skill, and sportsmanship on display β well done, Crocs!
What a brilliant start to contact rugby for our U9βs vs Wharfedale π The players were all raring to go at kick off and this showed with an early try which was worked up by the team after taking several tackles and passing the ball well. Our confidence running with the ball grew and grew, and not one of the players hesitated for a second in running fast at Wharfedaleβs defence to gain ground even if it meant getting tackled by several players. This confident attacking play by the whole team led to us scoring many more tries throughout the match. Our defence was also good. Understandably, it took a short time adjusting to tackling in a match scenario, but the team soon got stuck into it, making some great tackles and holding up Wharfedales' strong attack. Good fun had by all too which is the main thing π Well done everyone π
Player of the week = Theo for a brilliant all-around performance π
Old Crocs U10βs kick started their season with five competitive matches at Morley Festival. The team demonstrated strong individual performances in attack and defence whilst adapting to the new age grade rules, including rucking and scrummaging. Five players made their crocs debut with a number of other players set to make their debut this coming week. The future is bright!
U11s trained as their opposition pulled out last minute
Old Crocs 14s hosted a much improved Wharfedale side for the first game of the season. Crocs battled well, playing half the game with one less player. A hard fought 24-22 win for Crocs in the end. We look forward to the return fixture on Sunday
Old Crocs U16 girls played Old Brodleians in what was the first game between the two sides at this age group and the first competitive game ever for the Brods side. Crocs were able to play five new girls as part of the friendly, all who all fitted in very well to the Crocs style of play. The coaching team were very pleased how the girls approached the game and applied the skills they have been learning in training
