Wednesday's Weekly Junior Roundup
First Wednesday Round Up of the year and we had plenty of our junior section in action over the weekend, from the tots to the U16s in the National Cup. Match reports below
The tots had their first ever away day, doing a combined training session away at Moortown. It was great to see the travelling tots braving the cold weather and getting some new training games that we will bring into our sessions. Moortown tots will be joining us later in the season
Old Crocs Under 7’s returned from the Christmas break with an away trip to our friends at Moortown . On a bitterly cold morning the team bonded in comparing new boots received from Santa 🎅 with one another. On the pitch there was no sign of any post holiday rust with a terrific display from all. Fabian’s full length of the field try being a highlight
Match report - U8s Crocs v Moortown
We joined forces with the u7s this week to take on Moortown who had a strong squad. Crocs quickly got going playing some fast running rugby, passing the ball well and running in several early tries. Moortown quickly responded which set the trend for the game. Crocs defensive line and tackling got stronger and stronger as the game went on making it incredibly difficult for Moortown to score. A fantastic effort by all especially considering the mixed u7/8s team hadn’t all played together before.
Opposition coaches players of the week:-
Reya and Hugo, well done both 👍
The U9’s put on an excellent display against a well drilled and physical Bramley Phoenix side. Showcasing a growing team ethos and moments of individual quality throughout. Their performance gained praise from both the opposition coaches and crowd
The u10s were hosted by local rivals Rish on a cold morning in Copley. The home team had some good running play and battled hard to the end but struggled to cope with the dominant tackling and rucking from the young Crocs. The Crocs defensive display was matched by their attack with some excellent strong running, passing and offloads in open play.
A comfortable win against Ripon away saw the u13s through to the next round of the Yorkshire cup. Special mention for our prop Olly Smith who captained the side on what was his birthday. Thanks to Ripon RUFC for their hospitality.
U14s had a challenging start to 2025 away at Morley. The opening 10 minutes were well contested with Crocs retaining possession well. However some strong running from the Morley backs put the home side ahead. In the second half crocs usual solid defence was absent as Morley built an unrecoverable lead. The Lads didn’t give up and eventually they were rewarded with nice try for George Mervill. Lots to work on at training this week. Mom Leo Robinson.
