Some words from our Head Coach, Jack Hammond, reflecting on the Centenary season.
'It’s been a really positive season and one that came right down to the wire for us. The lads showed a lot of class to beat a good Morley side in what was a season defining game, to finish things off down at Broomfield.
On reflection it’s been a bit of a transitional period for us. I was brought in as head coach, replacing Gareth Greenwood after his five successful seasons with the club.
It’s been a challenge but also a pleasure to step in to the role. With help early in the season from Chris Stone and more recently James Cooper we have worked hard to build the team this season. It’s also been a real positive bringing Jon Bake in as director of rugby who’s had a positive impact on the lads.
I feel like I’ve put my own stamp on things and think the lads have really bought in to the coaching sessions which I believe has shown on the pitch.
Regional 2 North is a very competitive league and we’ve had no easy games. The lads have shown a lot of character at times and we’ve been on the end of some cracking results. We’ve had a few lows but also some great highs as a team. I feel like the foundation has been laid for us to kick on and have a more successful season next time around.'
